With planning approved, it’s all go in the heart of the village at the St. Mawes as the first phase of work to refurbish the St Mawes Hotel, has started.
The phased refurbishment of the waterfront hotel will allow the hotel to stay open, serving locals and visitors for the project’s duration. The first phase of work to refurbish the bar, lounge and some of the bedrooms is scheduled to be completed by mid May.
Extensive re-branding is also in progress, including a new website which will be launched in time for the main summer season, on completion of phase one. The second phase of the refurbishment will add six additional bedrooms to the hotel’s accommodation offer.
The desire to optimise the potential of the St Mawes Hotel’s seafront location, and proximity to the pretty harbour, has inspired the owner, Henry Hare, to invest in providing a special place to stay in a world class location. Henry said, “I want to create a comfortable environment for all our visitors to enjoy a drink and a bite to eat, but most of all I want The St Mawes Hotel to become a unique boutique establishment. Superbly equipped it will provide a warm welcome to a diverse range of guests. Those looking for an uncomplicated quiet getaway, groups wishing to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and weddings or families holidaying on the Roseland, where the stunning location of the St Mawes Hotel means they can enjoy the amenities and activities on our doorstep.” By mid May 2011 the aim is to refurbish both bars, some of the bedrooms, and totally re-design two existing rooms to showcase the fresh new look to be adopted throughout the hotel’s interior. This distinctive, contemporary and relaxed style will also be reflected on the hotel’s re-decorated façade.
In addition to this, an exciting new Open Grill in the ground floor Bar and Restaurant, combined with Cornwall’s first Moules Bar and a menu of seasonal seafood specialities with bar meal favourites, complete the final delivery of the new concept.
